Jenatrix Boomshot, Horde Hunter Challenge Cray-Cray!

Check out my previous posts on the Alliance and Horde hunter challenges I'm working on!

When we last saw Jenatrix, she and Jujubee were like peas in a pod. Levels 10-15 came all too quickly in the Northern Barrens, and before long it was time to find a fierce kennel slot for Jujubee in the Crossroads. I was a bit sad to see her go. I really love the raptor model.. but mostly I love Jujubee. Bow down.
With quite the long face Jenatrix went to tame a new pet on her way to completing the Echeyakee quest. I figured I'd tame a cheetah on the way since I'd never tamed that skin before. Then an idea struck.. call it a Ru-piphany, if you will.

Echeyakee White Lion Realness! Dat Mane!
Jenatrix was a little shy at first.. well intimidated, to tell the truth. But it wasn't long before they were performing "Jealous of My Boogie" at the Broken Tusk in Orgrimmar. Werk!

Seriously, this challenge has been so fun. I respect and admire drag queens so much. They inspire me greatly and remind me not to be afraid to be fabulous. ^_^

I was extremely sad when I hit 20! We were levelling skinning in the Wailing Caverns. Dropping Ru off in Crossroads, I skipped back to WC, but not before snapping a picture of the two. Bonded for life!

As soon as I got past the raptors in Wailing Caverns- no one can replace Jujubee, after all- I felt a tap on the shoulder. Ohhhh, girl! Nina Flowers in the house!

And in game.

The in-game wind serpent Nina loves blasting critters with electricity, grooming her fantastic mohawk, and tripping Jenatrix with her tail.

They kind of match colorwise too! Hehe. I never appreciated how pretty wind serpents can be.

Stay tuned for Melody's Adventures in Loch Modan, and of course for more of Jenatrix- who will soon be exploring Ashenvale. Don't miss it, bitches, and most importantly..

Anouska and Siouxsie

This is an x-post of my most recent random pet challenge from wow-petopia.com :)

I went in a bit of a different direction this time, because when I went to find the black fox for my random pet challenge, a story kind of sprouted and I had to write it down. :D

First will come the story and pictures, then the technical review. ^_^

The 'bad luck fox' is what they called her. The people of Lakeshire were sick of her, and who could blame them? Chickens, pigs, backyard dogs, and even a hutch of bunnies had been made off with. Telltale black fur was left behind in place of the reddish brown fur that any true fox has, the people said. She was obviously malicious, a demon maybe. Farms that had their animals carried off were said to have horrible growing seasons afterwards, attributed to her taint on the land she hunted from. They wanted her pelt, and they were paying a small sack of silver and a moldy leather helm to anyone who could do bring her down.

Anouska smiled to herself as she headed out of Lakeshire, to where the fox purportedly roamed. She would find her alright, if she even existed at all. She'd find the 'bad luck fox' alright, but not to kill her. If she existed, she was coming home with her.

She circled the reported den for a few moments, just enough to spot unmistakable fox tracks around a large rock. Splintered bones also littered the area, a sure sign of some kind of carnivore activity.

Anouska sat with her back against the rock, which was still warm from the sun's rays, and pulled a single trout from her pack. She set this on the ground beside her, adding to it a handful of blackberries. Her previous encounters with foxes taught her that some love berries just as well as meat. She sat, still and silent, for what seemed like hours. Finally..

The fox gazed at her, snarling and showing teeth. Her feet were scarred and scabbed, as well as her ears, one of which had a chunk torn out of it. She was mangy and painfully thin. Realization dawned- she had only been stealing livestock from Lakeshire because her own food sources had grown scarce. The orcs and gnolls in the area had surely seen to that. Anouska held her breath, still waiting. Finally.. the fox came over and gazed up at her. Blue eyes met gold and held for a long moment. Then a wet nose pressed into her palm. They had bonded. Anouska couldn't help but do a little cheer.

Imagine her surprise when the fox mimicked her!

After feeding Siouxsie a few more fish, giving her a good bath, and bandaging the open wound on her ear, they were off to get to know one another better. Unfortunately, Siouxsie was still highly aggressive to other people, other animals, and even intimidating looking rocks. They would need to work on that. They headed to Gilneas to lend a hand to the Ally forces there. As expected, Siouxsie had a lot of aggression that served them well in the battle.

Until she bit the commander of the Alliance forces squarely in the tush. Then they had to book it out of there!

Clearly Siouxsie needed some anger management. Anouska thought long and hard, and suddenly the answer became clear. If anyone could help expunge negative emotions, it was.. these guys.

A day of meditation proved to be just what the doctor ordered, and near the end Siouxsie was sitting calmly and allowing the Pandaren to touch her- just a little. But it was progress, even if she wasn't thrilled.

"Hey, Siouxsie! Don't eat the nice woman's pet moth! Put down that cricket! You just ate a pile of fish!"

Well, no one said it would be an overnight fix. xD Look at that sheepish face!

The Review:
I took the fox with me to a battleground, to do some dailies, and to an anger management seminar/questing spree in the Kun-Lai Summit. :D
I love the fox model. The cheeks and tail are a teensy bit blocky in all skins, where they were going for fluff. I can appreciate the attempt at fluff though, so it's easy to forgive for me. :) Foxes have that awesome flavor ability, Play, that I just can't get enough of. However their family ability, Tailspin, is just so-so. It's entirely situational, but useful, though I love other family abilities more. As an aside, the PetEmote addon has some fantastic emotes for foxes! It just added so much more to my experience. The skin of the black fox models has piercing golden eyes, which I love. The entire skin gives off a tuxedo cat vibe and I really enjoy that. I'm at a crossroads now- do I keep Ashtail, whom I named Hyacinth? Or do I keep Siouxsie, the spunky, slightly cantankerous fox who matches Anouska's hair color so perfectly? It's a hard decision! Overall I am very glad to have tamed her, even if I am now faced with a predicament!

Bring back...MY GIRLS! Part 2: Jenatrix Boomshot!

Representing the Horde, please welcome the fabulous, freaky, and idiosyncratic Jenatrix Boomshot!
She is fierce, darling, and don't you forget it. Creeping in on the side is none other than her cute-as-a-button red crab, Ms. Penny. That's Penny Tration, hunt-y!

I'm not implying that the awesome Penny Tration is a crab. Or has crabs. Or even eats crabs. But I want to pinch her cheeks, so there you go. Believe it or not, Jenatrix has already had a near death experience.

And a death-defying rocket ride, with Penny scrambling along on the ground, wondering if she's going to end up nibbling on Jenatrix's barbecued remains after the fiery crash. Or worse, scuff her polished cherry-red shell!

Parting was such sweet sorrow, but Penny Tration soon retired to her comfy stable (with a buffet of cinnamon rolls, snickerdoodles, and a lifetime supply of MAC cosmetics- that's MAC cosmetics) when Jenatrix hit level 10. And who do you think was waiting to throw some shade as soon as she ventured out of Town-in-a-Box?
I'll give you another hint, girrrrl!

The fiercest, baddest bitch herself, Ms. Jujubee! She's spiky and sassy and she just does not give a fuck. She and Jenatrix clicked immediately- after Jenatrix got read to filth of course.

This model is beautiful, by the way. It used to be a color changer, but Jujubee stayed in her striking violet skin the entire time. She is the first raptor I've ever tamed- I usually go for devilsaurs- but I am in love, bitch!
Jujubee matches Jenatrix's eye color! EEEE! She holds aggro like a pro, but is a little jumpy on the trigger- she often runs off into combat without me even asking her to! How art imitates life, eh?
I love you too darling. So much. Can we be best friends IRL? Please? No? Well, I'll just keep talking to my raptor as if she were you, hunt-y. I am not worthy!

Stay tuned for levels 10-15 with Merrymaker Melody and Jenatrix Boomshot.. who knows what kind of craziness will be going on!

Bring Out... My GIRLS: Part One- Merrymaker Melody!

I'd like to introduce you to the ladies of my hunter challenge!

Representing the Alliance, Merrymaker Melody is a tall draenei with a propensity for black lipstick, a musical superiority complex, and a tendency to fall over her own hooves.

She started off with the red and green moth model, and because of her plush red fuzz, I named her Tori, for Tori Amos. Kind of a dull name, and I'd like to stick to songs and one-word band names, but Tori is a sweetheart nonetheless.

I love moths, but this is far from my favorite model. I prefer the white, grey, and even blue moths to this- but let's face it. Moths are amazing! Mel and Tori made a fantastic team.

When Melody dinged level 9, I took her toward where the ravagers on Azuremyst Isle were. I figured she'd ding close to there, and I've never EVER tamed a ravager before on any character. The red and yellow ravagers seemed just as good as any. Until.. I saw him.

Just then, a shaman from another server invited me to a group. I accepted just as she killed a ravager, unlocked the cage, and urged me to "Tame him, tame him!" I almost stumbled over myself to abandon my starter pet (bye Tori, go on with your bad self!) and tame.

The best part? When I checked my Pandora station, the song "Electronaut" by VNV Nation was playing. What a perfect name for a ravager that fell out of the sky and stayed locked in a cage til released by the kindness of a stranger into a new life. Ha!

They have become fast friends! I love how ravagers look when they Dash. I love the little hisses, shrieks, and almost electric sounding emissions coming from these little aliens. I'm rather tickled that the name fits so well.

Stay tuned for Part 2!

The Hunter Obsession: Ok, Ok, I'm Giving In!

Hello, my name is GamerKitten and.. I have a problem.
A real, real problem. My problem is that I am obsessed with hunters, specifically in World of Warcraft. Oh, I have a beast master in Everquest 2, and a Ranger in Guild Wars 2 (Norn reppin' for the win!), but nothing tickles my fancy so much as the World of Warcraft hunter class. I love exploring the ends of Azeroth for new pets, I love coming up with themes for said pets, I love the different models to tame, and I love the addons like PetEmote (available at Curse) that give my pets so much more personality. I'm addicted, and I don't care!

Here is a running total of my hunters so far..

Anouska Tatterton, level 89 human hunter, Moon Guard.

Verica Dawnsinger, level 50 blood elf hunter, Wyrmrest Accord.

Jenatrix Boomshot, level 77 goblin hunter, Cho'gall. (retired, since I don't play here anymore. :( )

A good start, I'd say. However.. having recently become obsessed with the wow-petopia.com website, and by proxy, the forums, I am privileged to see hunter-obsessed folk who take it to a whole 'nother level, people! I was inspired by one such post by Kurasu, who decided to start a level 1 hunter and level the following way:

-Every 5 levels, tame a new pet
-No doubling up on skins
-No doubling up on families (where possible)
-Tame a pet from the zone in which you dinged the 5th level
-Try for skins you have not tamed before

I have been massively inspired by this, and have decided to attempt this on two hunters, one Alliance side and one Horde side. I will however be taking it a step further..

-One instance run per instance for the quests and pets inside
-All other levelling through questing only, and-
-Naming themes for both hunters!

I will be taking screenshots as I go and am already super excited. My irreverent goblin hunter is Jenatrix Boomshot reborn, and she is SO fabulous that all of her pets will be named for drag queens. I will be rolling her on Wyrmrest Accord. I am also working on a draenei hunter name, whose pets will be named for the song/genre/band I am listening to as I tame them, which will be random due to Winamp/Pandora's nature!

Then of course there is Ludovika Mormont, whose pets are all fictional characters that die in the movie or book in which they reside. She is a bit outside the rules for the challenge, as I will be taming specific pets that fit her 'Forsaken' look, IE diseased bears, wolves, spiders, wasps, and other creepy crawlies who don't get enough love!

FUN HUH?!

If you guys have any 'musical' names that would suit a draenei, please let me know. I have tried all sorts of different combinations of 'Pandora' with varying funky letters, to no avail. *shakes fist at the heavens* DAMN YOU HIGH POPULATION SERVERS!!

I have gone off the deep end, my friends, and I am enjoying the swim!

Ironwoman Serethess!

So, I've decided to partake in the Ironman Challenge on The Venture Co. There is a challenge going on there right now, with watchers and prizes and so on.

I could give a shit about the gold. But I'm jazzed and interested and going to do this challenge if it drives me insane! Insane-er.'

Serethess. The Venture Co. Come say hi, but please don't gank me!
(Seriously. I will keel you.)

Introductions and Other Awkward Ramblings

Hello blogosphere! Or whatever word it's called now. I like blogosphere. It sounds fancy..

Anyway, my name is Melody. I'm a gamer, a writer, and a music fiend. I've played a few MMOs in my time, mainly World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, Rift, and Dungeons and Dragons Online.

It's that dreaded time between expansions for World of Warcraft. I've been, well, let's face it, bored. I have 3 level 85 characters, and 6 others that are above 80, but things have gotten stale.

In order to shake things up a bit, I've decided to undertake the IRONMAN CHALLENGE! Is it Ironwoman in my case?

I've played the bumbling mage, doing decent DPS, Time Warping my elven butt off (sometimes at inopportune moments.. sorry Looking For Raid folks that have the cooldown because I accidentally press the button instead of Mage Armor! I've played the raid healer, health bars swimming in front of my eyes, developed carpal tunnel from healing heroic Professor Putricide in ICC..

So, now, I shall create an orc .. lady I figure orcs are buff, right? If anyone can survive to 85 in all greens simply by questing.. it's an orc female!

Looking for a server to undertake this challenge was a challenge in and of itself. Should I go with a server I have toons on? Will the temptation to help myself be too great? Should I venture out on a new server, completely unknown, striking out alone? I think so..

Updates incoming when I absolutely decide which server to crush this challenge on!!
Suggestions welcome.

Peace, love, and popcorn tofu-
Melody out.
